Tour Introduction

The Ancient Persia Glory Day Tour takes you from Shiraz on a journey through some of the most important sites of the Achaemenid Empire.

Our first destination is Persepolis, the magnificent ceremonial capital whose construction began during the reign of Darius the Great. We will explore its monumental staircases, palaces, reliefs, the Gate of All Nations, and other remarkable remains while discovering the history and culture of the Achaemenid Empire.

We then continue to Naqsh-e Rostam, an impressive archaeological site featuring monumental rock-cut royal tombs of Achaemenid kings as well as important Sasanian rock reliefs.

The journey continues north to Pasargadae, the first dynastic capital of the Achaemenid Empire and the site of the Tomb of Cyrus the Great. Here, we explore the origins of the Persian Empire and the early architectural style of the Achaemenid period.

Day 1

Journey into the Heart of the Achaemenid Empire

We depart from Shiraz in the morning and travel to Persepolis. During our visit, we explore the Gate of All Nations, Apadana Palace, Tachara Palace, monumental staircases, and the famous Achaemenid reliefs.

We then continue to Naqsh-e Rostam to see the impressive rock-cut royal tombs and important Sasanian reliefs.

After a break for lunch, we travel north to Pasargadae, where we visit the Tomb of Cyrus the Great and other remains of the first Achaemenid capital.

At the end of the day, we return to Shiraz.
