My last journey took me to the stunning Boghdian Gorge, a place that once brimmed with crystal-clear waters and natural stone pools. Sadly, the water levels have drastically decreased, and the pools that were once nature’s masterpieces are now filled with debris from a recent flood. Despite these changes, the beauty of the gorge still holds a special place in my heart.
Tang-e Boghdiyoun is a stunning and unique natural attraction in the Sepidan region. Our journey to this breathtaking spot began in Shiraz, as we set off towards Sepidan and then continued along the Yasuj road. After approximately 20 minutes, we arrived at Tang-e Tizab, with the village of Deh Kohneh marking its beginning.
Adjacent to Deh Kohneh is a paved road with a sign pointing towards the village of Rigon. We headed to Rigon, where we passed through a tunnel formed by trees at the village’s entrance. The road was paved until we reached Rigon, after which it turned into a dirt path. We traveled this dirt road for about 15 minutes until we reached the base of the valley. We parked our vehicles under the trees, grabbed our backpacks, and set off towards Tang-e Boghdiyoun.
The trail begins in a broad, open valley with a river and lush greenery. As we progressed, the path narrowed, and a series of waterfalls began to appear—around six in total, ranging from small to large. Some sections of the trail are rocky and relatively challenging. We reached a series of pools, with the last one being quite deep. It is advisable for those who cannot swim to either avoid this pool or use a life jacket.
Beyond the waterfall flowing into this pool, there are more waterfalls, though they are difficult to access. The deep and narrow gorges ensure that sunlight rarely touches the valley floor. After exploring the path, wading through the water, and enjoying a refreshing dip, we returned to have lunch in the shade of the trees. We took some time to rest, collected our trash, and headed back to our vehicles. After a wonderful day filled with memorable experiences, we made our way back to Shiraz.
